Brazil vehicle output down 3.5% in Feb – Anfavea

Brazilian auto vehicle production fell by 3.5% in February 2021 compared with the corresponding month of 2020 on low exports and raw material supply disruptions, national automaker association Anfavea said on Friday March 5.

The country produced 197,035 units in February, down from 204,206 units year on year. This is the lowest level recorded since 170,700 units in July 2020 - when the industry was still recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic - and the weakest February figures since 2016.
According to the Anfavea president, Luiz Carlos Moraes, the decrease was a result of lower exports and some raw material supply disruption to auto facilities. For example, a few manufacturing sites had to close temporarily due to a worldwide chip shortage, Moraes said.
