SOUTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Producers eye April price rises

Steel wire rod producers in Southern Europe will be looking to achieve higher prices for material in April, citing good order books and high feedstock prices, Fastmarkets heard on Wednesday March 31.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was €660-670 ($775-786) per tonne on Wednesday, narrowing upward week on week from €650-670 per tonne.
The assessment reflected deals, offers and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past seven days.
Italian and Spanish mills, however, were targeting increases of €10-20 per tonne for April.
In Italy, wire rod was heard traded at €660 per tonne delivered, largely stable over the week, sources said, with new offers for April heard at €670 per tonne delivered.
