RUSSIA FLAT STEEL: Prices sharply up, tracking exports, good buying

Domestic flat steel prices in Russia's Central Federal District around Moscow increased sharply over the past week, reflecting the surging export market, improving demand and limited availability, sources told Fastmarkets on Tuesday, April 6.

Market participants said they expected to see even higher prices by May.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled sheet, domestic, cpt Moscow, Russia increased to 75,000-77,000 roubles ($982-1,008) per tonne on Monday, including 20% value-added tax, up from 69,000-70,000 roubles per tonne.
The official April domestic offer price for HR sheet from local producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) was 78,000 roubles per tonne for traders, sources said.
However, they added that the workable price level around 75,000-77,000 roubles per tonne.
