NORTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Prices rise on good end-user demand, limited imports

The steel rebar market in Northern Europe posted gains over the past week, supported by good end-user demand and limited imports, with sources expecting the upward trend to continue in the coming months, Fastmarkets heard on Wednesday April 7.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, delivered Northern Europe was €650-670 ($769-793) per tonne on Wednesday, up by 1.54% from €640-660 per tonne last week.
The assessment was based on deals, offers and achievable prices reported by market participants over the past week.
One source said that some deals in the Netherlands were still heard done at a slightly lower level, €640 per tonne delivered, but this was not widely confirmed by other market participants.
