ASIA HRC: Import trading slow amid new offers by Vietnam producers

Import transactions for steel hot-rolled coil in the key Vietnam market slowed in the week to Friday April 16 because of new offers from domestic blast furnace-based steel mills, market participants have told Fastmarkets.

Formosa Ha Tinh Steel released its latest offer on April 12, raising its list price by $143 per tonne to $912 per tonne for June-shipment materials on a cfr Ho Chi Minh City basis. It has increased its offers by $4 per tonne for May-shipment cargoes.
“The offer prices are reflective of the current spot market where June-shipment cargoes are fetching higher prices compared with May-shipment cargoes,” a source close to the company told Fastmarkets.
