RUSSIA REBAR: Producers hold back offers for May; strong secondary market demand supports price rise

The domestic steel rebar market in Russia’s Central Federal District around Moscow increased during the week to Monday April 19 on strong secondary market demand, despite a lack of official offers from producers, according to sources.

Demand from construction, the key end sector for rebar, is seasonally good in Russia, supporting the uptrend in prices, sources said .

In the secondary market, large traders were offering rebar at 67,200-68,000 ($888-899) roubles per tonne delivered, up from 63,000-63,500 roubles per tonne...
