NORTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Prices likely to rise on construction demand, limited imports

Steel rebar prices in the north of Europe have been largely stable at high levels over the past week, but market sources were expecting an increase to come soon, despite resistance among buyers, because of strong construction sector demand and limited imports, Fastmarkets heard on Wednesday April 21.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, remained at €650-670 ($783-807) per tonne on April 21, unchanged week on week.
The assessment reflected deals, offers and achievable prices reported by market sources over the past week.
In the Benelux area, rebar was heard traded at €650-655 per tonne delivered over the week, Fastmarkets heard.
