SOUTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Deal prices move up, with more rises likely in May

Steel rebar prices in Southern Europe moved up on bullish offers from mills, backed by good end-user demand in the week to Wednesday April 28, with further rises expected in May, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, delivered Southern Europe was €610-630 ($737-761) per tonne on Wednesday, up by €10-15 per tonne from €600-615.
The assessment was based on deals, offers and achievable prices heard by market participants over the assessment week.
Late last week, Italian rebar producers increased their offer prices to €610 per tone ex-works (about €640 per tonne delivered), up by about €20-30 per tonne compared with offers in mid-April, citing strong demand and limited availability.
