ASIA HRC: Prices edge up in Vietnam on pre-holiday procurement

Import prices for steel hot-rolled coil in Vietnam rose this week amid active buying ahead of public holidays to mark Labor Day and Reunification Day in the country, market participants told Fastmarkets.

Indian HRC was heard to have been sold by traders at $950-960 per tonne cfr Vietnam.
Back-to-back offers from Indian steel mills increased by $50-60 per tonne this week to $1,020-1,030 per tonne cfr Vietnam from $960-980 per tonne cfr Vietnam last week.

“There is limited demand from Vietnamese buyers for back-to-back cargoes of Indian HRC offered at $1,020-1,030 per tonne cfr Vietnam. It is unlikely anyone will purchase at those levels,” a buyer source...
