AT A GLANCE: Klöckner Q1 performance ‘best in 12 years’ amid good fundamentals

A summary of the financial results from German metals distributor Klöckner & Co for the first quarter of 2021 ended March 31.

Despite the pandemic-related decline in sales volumes, the company's sales rose by 5.3% in the first quarter, boosted by extremely positive price development.  Klöckner said it benefited from the unprecedented flat steel price increases in Europe and the United States over the quarter, achieving “the best quarterly result in over twelve years.”  Fastmarkets’ daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe averaged €738.03 ($894.77) per tonne in the first quarter, up by €188.48...
