NORTHERN EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices rise again on high demand, limited supply

The market for steel wire rod in the north of Europe has moved up over the past week on bullish offers from mills and the present limited availability, Fastmarkets heard on Wednesday May 5.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was €670-690 ($806-830) per tonne on Wednesday, up from 660-680 per tonne last week.
The assessment was based on deals, offers and achievable prices reported by market participants over the assessment period.
Several market participants reported an offer at €700-710 per tonne delivered in the region, but this was not included in the assessment because no trading was heard at those levels.
