Brazil's Gerdau optimistic about steel market, sales in coming quarters

Brazilian steel producer Gerdau expects steel demand and margins to remain strong in the next months, because of recovering inventories and positive performance of end users.

Gerdau is seeing premiums – the difference between prices of domestically produced material and imported steel – at around 10% for flat and long steel products.
“Premiums are low because of successive increases of prices in the international market and the currency exchange rate,” chief executive officer Gustavo Werneck said on Wednesday May 5.
