TURKEY LONG STEEL: Turkish mills increase local sales prices amid rising scrap costs

Turkish domestic long steel prices have increased over the past week on increasing scrap import values, themselves triggered by the export tax rebate decision in China, sources said on Thursday May 6.

China announced last week that, from May 1, there would be no export tax rebates for Chinese producers of hot-rolled coil, rebar, wire rod, hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet, plate, H-beam and stainless steel.
After the news, Turkish steel mills resumed their deep-sea scrap purchases for June shipments facing a sharp increase in prices on Wednesday May 5.
