US HRC index above $74/cwt for 5th day in row

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States have now stood above $74 per hundredweight ($1,480 per short ton) for five consecutive business days, with tight supplies and strong demand projected to extend the rally, market participants said.

Fastmarkets’ daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $74.86 per cwt ($1,497.20 per ton) on Thursday May 6, up by 1.04% from $74.09 per cwt on Wednesday May 5 and up by 2.13% from $73.30 per cwt one week earlier.
