CHINA HRC: Export prices rise on bullish outlook

China’s hot-rolled coil prices increased in both domestic and export markets on Friday May 7 on participants’ expectations of good demand for the remainder of this month.

Domestic
Eastern China (Shanghai): 5,990-6,000 yuan ($927-929) per tonne, up 80 yuan per tonne
Northern China (Tangshan) - weekly assessment: 5,940-5,950 yuan per tonne, up 290-320 per tonne
End users in eastern China increased their demand for HRC over the day to replenish stocks ahead of the weekend, resulting in a price rise of 230 yuan per tonne over the week.
