Chinese manganese flake producers cutting output until end-May

Most manganese flake producers in China are implementing a partial suspension of their operations and are putting some of their facilities under maintenance until the end of May to upgrade environmental equipment in their smelters, market sources told Fastmarkets on Friday May 7.

The decision to do so was made on April 29 by the country’s National Electrolytic Manganese Flake Union, which counts major producers as its members and whose aim is to ensure that the manganese industry develops in a sustainable manner.
