China’s selenium price firms on higher import costs, optimistic sentiment

The price of selenium in China’s domestic market inched higher during the week to Friday May 7 as a result of cargo holders raising prices due to increased import costs and bullish sentiment, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for selenium 99.9% Se min, in-whs China was 160-215 yuan ($25-33) per kg on Friday, widening upward by $5 from 160-210 yuan per kg a week earlier.

The low end of the range represents domestically produced material, while prices for imported selenium were toward the middle or high end of the range.

Sources reported receiving numerous inquiries before and after the Labor Day holiday, which took place on May 1-5, most of which were from traders.
