CHINA HRC: Prices stay at historical highs amid stable demand

China’s hot-rolled coil prices remained at their historical high on Tuesday May 11 amid stable demand, after surging up by around 600 yuan per tonne over the weekend, sources said.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 6,500-6,600 yuan ($1,012-1,027) per tonne, narrowing upward by 30 yuan per tonne
One Shanghai-based trader said spot sellers there were offering around 6,500 yuan per tonne in the morning before raising prices to 6,600 yuan per tonne in the afternoon after futures gained.
Trading activity weakened slightly day on day but most sources said overall demand remained stable.
