LME ASIA 2021: Regulations, financing ability to catalyze sustainability in metals, mining

Supportive regulations and directives as well as financing ability are likely to spur the metal and mining supply chain toward their transition to sustainability, panelists told attendees at LME Asia Metal Seminar 2021 on Tuesday May 25.

Ultimately, sustainability will become a standard for the metal and mining industry instead of widely applied with a ‘green’ premium, Ben Jones, managing consultant at CRU, said.
When a regulatory environment favors sustainability, production and premiums will be factored in over time to reflect responsible consumption, Jones said.
