US ferrous scrap sale to Turkey comes to light at $525 per tonne

A second United States deep-sea ferrous scrap sale to Turkey has leaked into the public domain after a period of export trading that has been as transparent as muddy water.

An East Coast exporter sold a cargo comprising an 80:20 mix of No1 and No2 heavy melting scrap at $525 per tonne cfr, likely on Tuesday May 25. A further breakout of the cargo was unavailable.
This constitutes a staggering $93-per-tonne increase compared to the last-reported sale of this HMS grade made to the region at $432 per tonne cfr on April 28.

The latest deal is also a $17-per-tonne increase on an HMS 95:5 sale to the region reported the previous day. A Houston exporter sold a cargo including HMS (95:5) priced at $515 per tonne cfr...
