CIS STEEL SLAB: Prices slide in new deals

Export slab prices from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region decreased in the week ending Tuesday June 22 with sales heard at lower levels amid softening finished flat steel prices both domestically and in customers’ markets.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel slab, export, fob Black Sea, CIS was $910-930 per tonne on June 22, widening downward from $920-930 per tonne fob on June 14.
Latin America and Europe provided most of the support to CIS slab suppliers, sources said.
A Russian producer was reported to sell a cargo of slabs to a customer in Mexico at $975 per tonne cfr through a trader, equivalent to around $930 per tonne fob Black Sea, sources said.
