MJP aluminium premium erases June gains on weak market sentiment

The aluminium premium in the cif main Japanese ports (MJP) market inched down for the second straight week on Tuesday June 22 after hitting its highest level since April 2018 at the start of the month.

Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium P1020A main Japanese ports (MJP) spot premium, cif Japan at $165-180 per tonne on Tuesday, down 1.43% from $170-180 per tonne the previous week and 6.76% down from $180-90 per tonne on 4 June when it hit its highest level in three years.
The drop comes after sustained spot weakness following the conclusion of the third-quarter MJP premium negotiations.
