NORTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Prices mostly flat despite pressure from buyers

Steel rebar prices in Northern Europe were stable to slightly lower over the past seven days, despite pressure from buyers and a downtrend in the scrap price, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday September 15.

Major distributors' inventories were more or less full, so they held back from trading in anticipation of a further decline in the price, tracking the weakness in scrap segment both domestically and internationally.

But good consumption in the region and long lead times helped local mills to keep rebar prices stable, despite the declining scrap price and some availability of cheap...
