RUSSIA FLAT STEEL: HRS market mood improves on rebound trading activity

Sentiment in the hot-rolled sheet (HRS) market in Russia's Central District around Moscow improved during the week to Monday October 4 amid increased trading activity on the back of low buyers’ stocks.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled sheet domestic, cpt Moscow, Russia was 65,000-70,000 roubles ($897-965) per tonne on Monday October 4, inclusive of a 20% value-added tax, widening from 67,000 roubles per tonne cpt a week earlier.
Early during the week, suppliers gave a 2,000-rouble-per-tonne discount to stockists for HRS purchases from stocks in September, offering the material at 65,000 roubles per tonne cpt.
In the HRS segment, certain traders have safe-stock agreements with mills, whereby they receive the material into their inventory without advance payment. These traders can buy agreed tonnages from this inventory at any time at the prevailing price of that period.
