Chinese vanadium prices rise further on improved sentiment

Chinese vanadium prices have continued to rise in the past week after rebounding off three months of decreases on a tightening of supply, with traders keeping their offers steady amid improved demand among steelmakers.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for vanadium pentoxide 98% V2O5 min, exw China was 108,000-110,000 yuan ($16,881-17,195) per tonne on Thursday October 21, up by 10,000-13,000 yuan per tonne (12.1%) from 95,000-100,000 yuan per tonne a week earlier.

Prices for vanadium pentoxide in China had trended upward in the first half of 2021, peaking at 132,000-133,000 yuan per tonne on June 24 before experiencing a three-month decline to a year-to-date low of 91,000-92,000 on September 30. They started to pick up on October 14.
