US SBQ prices move higher in November

Special bar quality (SBQ) steel prices in the United States rose in November on more widespread implementation of last month's mill base price increases for both cold-finished and hot-rolled products.

Fastmarkets’ monthly assessment for steel bar hot-rolled special bar quality 1-inch round 1000 series (carbon), fob mill US was at $70.50 per hundredweight ($1,410 per short ton) on Friday November 19, up by 1.44% from $69.50 per cwt on October 15, and by 3.68% from $68 per cwt in both September and August. Fastmarkets’ monthly assessment for steel bar cold-finished 1-inch round 1018 (carbon), fob mill US was at $90.50 on Friday, up by 1.97% from $88.75 per cwt on October 15, and up by 1.40% from $89.25 per cwt in September.
