CIS wire rod export prices slide amid sluggish demand, stronger competition

Wire rod export prices from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region dropped in the week to Monday November 22, due to a lack of demand and growing competition from suppliers in Turkey and even China.

Russia-origin wire rod was available to foreign customers at $778-782 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday, down from $815-820 per tonne fob in the middle of last week and $835-840 per tonne fob on November 15. In total, Russian offer prices fell by $57-58 per tonne over the week.
Meanwhile, official offers of Ukrainian wire rod remained at $860 per tonne fob, according to the country’s main seller ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
