SDI seeks duty circumvention probe into Vietnamese steel

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Steel Dynamics Inc (SDI) has filed an anticircumvention inquiry request with the US Department of Commerce regarding corrosion-resistant steel products produced in Vietnam using steel imported from Japan, according to a letter from Schagrin Associates dated November 17.

The requested inquiry would determine if corrosion-resistant steel products produced “from subject hot-rolled flat steel products and cold-rolled flat steel products from Japan represent ‘minor alterations’ such that those products should be brought within the scope of anti-dumping duty orders,” the law firm wrote in a letter to Commerce.
