CIS wire rod export price keeps falling amid thinner demand, pressure from Asian suppliers

Wire rod export prices from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped dramatically over the past two weeks amid sluggish demand and growing competition.

Major competitors for CIS mills now are not Turkish suppliers, but Asian - predominantly from China - because their offer prices are comparatively more attractive than those from Turkey.
Most recent offers of China-origin wire rod for foreign customers were heard at $730-740 per tonne fob early last week, while offers from Turkey were at $820-830 per tonne fob Black Sea.
