US copper scrap prices stable; year-end demand still strong

Brass ingot makers’ scrap prices in the United States remained rangebound on Wednesday December 1, with market sources citing consistent demand heading towards the end of the year.

One market source said that though demand usually slows around the Christmas holiday, such a decline had not yet been seen in 2021. The source said there was so much demand for finished product they “can’t keep up with it.” Buyers are coming “out of the woodwork” looking for product. Fastmarkets' assessments of the buying price for comp borings, turnings, delivered to brass ingot makers was unchanged on December 1 at $3.15-3.20 per lb.
