LME base metals prices mixed amid low volumes; copper, lead fall

Base metals prices showed small changes in trading on the London Metal Exchange on Friday December 3, amid relatively low trading volumes for most metals.

Aluminium’s three-month contract rose by 0.9% to $2,623 per tonne, from $2,600 per tonne on Thursday. Just over 11,000 lots of the metal were traded by 5pm, well below the average volume over the week of 18,900 lots.
Its cash-to-three-month spread remained tight, last seen in a $17.50-per-tonne backwardation, compared with an $8-per-tonne backwardation on Monday.
