CIS export steel wire rod prices move both ways but rebar prices fall

Export prices for steel wire rod from different parts of the Commonwealth of Independent States moved in opposite directions in the week to Monday December 6.

While Russian suppliers increased their offer prices slightly amid successful sales, prices from Ukraine continued to fall back.
Offers of Russian wire rod increased to $730-735 per tonne over the week, from $720 per tonne fob Black Sea earlier.
“Russia’s Abinsk managed to conclude some deals last week so it stopped providing discounts,” one trading source said.
