Crude steel production both in Egypt and Algeria over the first 10 months of 2021 and for the full-year 2020 outperformed figures from 2018 and 2019.
Egyptian steelmakers produced 8.5 million tonnes of crude steel in January-October 2021, against 8.2 million tonnes over the 12 months of 2020. In 2019, the country’s steel output totaled 7.3 million tonnes, while in 2018 production reached 7.8 million tonnes, according to data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
In Algeria, 10-month steel output totaled 2.84 million tonnes in 2021, slightly down from 4 million tonnes over the full year in 2020. But this was still 440,000 tonnes more than 2.4 million tonnes in 2019 and up from 2.3 million tonnes in 2018.
