China domestic rebar prices fall with demand hit by seasonal slowdown, rise in Covid-19 cases

Demand for rebar in China continued to wane on Thursday December 23, with a resurgence in Covid-19 cases and the seasonal end-of-year slowdown leading to a fall in domestic prices, sources told Fastmarkets.

Eastern China (Shanghai): 4,800-4,830 yuan ($754-758) per tonne, down by 20 yuan per tonne
Construction sites in certain cities in Zhejiang province have been forced to reduce activity due to workers being affected by Covid-19 quarantines, causing a drop in demand for rebar.
