Idled Chinese copper smelter reheats furnace, resumes concs negotiations

A quicker-than-expected resumption of Xiangguang’s copper smelting operations was likely, with the state-owned asset preparing concentrates feed close to the site, Fastmarkets learnt on Wednesday May 11.

The furnace in Shandong province has been idle since March because of a lack of credit, but was now undergoing repair and reheating, three sources familiar with the matter said.
