Proposal to increase frequency of European aluminium PFA premiums

Fastmarkets proposes to increase the frequency of its primary foundry alloy (PFA) silicon 7 ingot premium in Europe from monthly to twice a month.

Fastmarkets, which currently assesses the premiums on the second Friday of each month, proposes to publish the European PFA premiums on the second and last Friday of the month.
The consultation period for this proposed amendment starts on Tuesday June 14 and closes on Tuesday July 12.
Subject to market feedback, the amendment will take place, with the premiums being published on Friday July 29 and twice a month thereafter.
The premium assessments affected are:
MB-AL-0340: Aluminium primary foundry alloy silicon 7 ingot premium, ddp Eastern Europe, $/tonne
MB-AL-0339: Aluminium primary foundry alloy silicon 7 ingot premium, ddp Germany, $/tonne
The increased frequency is in response to feedback from market participants, who are reporting more regular spot liquidity and movement in the PFA market, which previously traded on a monthly and quarterly basis.
