China's crude steel, finished steel output falls further in May

China's crude steel and finished output continued to fall in May from a year earlier albeit at lower rates compared with April, according to data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday June 15. But hot metal output edged up last month.

May output
Crude steel: 96.61 million tonnes, down by 3.5% from May 2021, up by 4.13% from April 2022

Hot metal: 80.49 million tonnes, up by 2.0%...
