South America flat steel import prices down on new discounts from China

Flat-rolled steel import prices fell in South America throughout the week ended Friday June 17 after Chinese sellers lowered their offers to the continent, in what some buyers were calling a “sale” by traders in the East Asian country.

The week started with some higher offers from China to Brazil, Chile and Peru, but by June 15 several reports of discounts had emerged in the market.
