Brazilian apparent steel consumption down 15.7% in May

Brazilian apparent steel consumption fell by 15.7% year on year in May, and crude steel output dropped by 4.9% in the same period, figures released on Monday June 20 by national steel association Aço Brasil showed.

The country’s apparent steel use fell to 2.1 million tonnes, down from 2.49 million tonnes in the same month in 2021, the figures showed.
