'Overlooked' manganese to play key role in high-density battery chemistry, conference hears

Manganese has been mostly overlooked in recent years by the lithium-ion (Li ion) battery industry due to its relatively low cost and the lower percentage of the metal used in rechargeable batteries, compared with other key battery materials, an industry conference in Germany heard last week.
