I have a subscription to Metal Bulletin already so do I need a Data Licence to use the prices?
You do not need a Data Licence if the prices are for your personal use only. However, if the prices are being extracted from Metal Bulletin and redistributed to colleagues directly or via a company system then those people interacting with the data would need to be licenced separately. See Data Licence

Why do I need a Data Licence?
Metal Bulletin pricing data represents the most important part of our service offering. Metal Bulletin, in its role as a leading metals price reporting agency, has been investing in the personnel, compliance and technology infrastructure to support the development of its benchmark prices. In response to the growing adoption of Metal Bulletin's prices by companies in the metals value chain, we offer the Data Licence as the solution to receive and use our prices for key functions in sales and trading, as well as, mid and back office operations that also interact with pricing data. See Data Licence

Can I share Metal Bulletin prices internally?
Our pricing data can be shared internally as long as all direct and derived users are covered by a Data Licence. See Data Licence

Can I share Metal Bulletin prices with my clients?
Our prices can only be shared when part of an invoice or a credit note. Clients may not share in any other way our data externally with their counter parties. They would need to have their own Data Licence agreement with Metal Bulletin.

Can I post Metal Bulletin prices on my website for my client to see?
No this is not permitted. Your clients would need to subscribe directly with Metal Bulletin if they need access to our prices.

I get Metal Bulletin prices through a third party such as Bloomberg or Thomson Reuters can I use them in my company's workflow?
No, you will require a separate Data Licence if the use of those prices is for anything other than your personal use.

How can I access Metal Bulletin Prices?
Our data is available in the following delivery methods:

  • Exporting prices from the Price Book on the Metal Bulletin website
  • Approved third party distribution partners such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and Morningstar
  • Metal Bulletin Data Price Feeds

How are Data Price Feeds packaged?
You can choose from the following groups of prices;

  • Base Metals
  • Steel and Raw Materials
  • Scrap (ferrous and non-ferrous)
  • Ferro Alloys and Minor Metals
  • All Metals Package
  • Live Exchange Data (LME, CME, SHFE)

How can I incorporate this feed into my everyday workflow?
The market data feed is set-up using an API/XML framework which means clients can access, integrate and manipulate our data using both standard independent software vendor and bespoke in-house applications and analytics. Most organizations with an IT team or a developer will be able to integrate this with relatively little effort. If you don't have any technical staff, we are able to provide support and code snippets to enable integration.

How secure is a Data Price Feed?
Each data request to the API is authenticated to ensure access is granted to the named user. Via the API, the risk of an employee infringing the terms of contract or disseminating data to unauthorized sources is reduced, as the data is delivered directly into client systems.

What is the cost of a Data Price Feed?
It depends on the number of users and how many price packages are required. We also offer enterprise-wide licences. Please request a quote from us at subs@metalbulletin.com

Are there any restrictions when using a Data Price Feed?
Sharing of Metal Bulletin data to unlicensed individuals amounts to violation of our policy and may lead to additional charges.

Can you help if I have special requirements around the data I receive?
We strongly recommend customers to use one of our standard package offerings however we understand that you may have bespoke needs around the feed we provide. We are able to support this only on a case by case basis and if the feed cannot be customized at the clients' end. We might have to pass on the development cost to customers based on requirements.

If I have questions about my current use of Metal Bulletin prices who should I speak to?
