Beware company cloning, Metal Interests warns

Non-ferrous and ferrous scrap recycler Metal Interests has issued a warning to market participants about the threat of cloning after it discovered a trader using its name fraudulently

The trader, who calls himself Mr MacDonald Angus Gordon Robertson, is offering material on trading website under the slightly different company name of Metal Interest. Robertson is also using Metal Interests' real UK registration number and Administration of Quality, Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) number. “As a reputable company we are very concerned that any party should use our international certification for their fraudulent activities, potentially damaging the reputation of this company that has taken a lifetime to build,” Metal Interests md Roger Brewster told MB on Wednesday. UK-based Metal Interests has been contacted by buyers who have paid and lost deposits on orders placed with Robertson. Robertson, who is believed to be working from India, offers metals and goods at attractive prices in order to lure customers, Brewster said.
