Event Overview

Aluminium recycling is vital to the metal’s future growth and sustainability: according to IAI data, aluminium production from secondary sources has quadrupled in the past three decades or so, with over 20m tonnes of new and end-of-life scrap recycled each year. By 2020 this figure is expected to rise to over 30 m tonnes. Aluminium scrap is converted into casting alloys, can sheet, extrusion billet and a whole range of other products – and competition for this raw material is intense. Once again we are hearing that the “scrap gap” is back, putting pressure on margins. Recyclers are having to be ever more nimble in adapting to changing trade patterns, scrap types, alloy specifications and quality – as well as to the growing raft of legislation affecting this vital segment of the aluminium industry chain. While some of these challenges require strategic, long-term planning, more immediate pressures such as the Eurozone crisis, currencies fluctuations, doubts over Asian market momentum, and theft and fraud face the recycler today.

Never has there been a greater need for clear market information, sector insight and industry interaction – and where better to achieve this than at Metal Bulletin Event's International Recycled Aluminium Conference. This year we head to the beautiful and historic city of Salzburg, located at the heart of the wider European market and close to some of the major users of recycled aluminium in the automotive and other sector.

If you need a clearer picture of where your business is headed as we move into 2013 – and where the best opportunities lie – then join us at Metal Bulletin Event's International Recycled Aluminium Conference, the key annual industry forum for examining what is driving this sector at world, regional and national level.
