Event Overview

Bringing together Iran and the global ferrous marketplace

Kish Island plays host to the inaugural Iranian Iron & Steel Conference which will bring together the entire Iranian iron ore and steel industry supply chain with their global counterparts. This event will feature expert speakers addressing the economic sanction situation as they currently stand and forecasting how and when they may be reduced. Top officials will also outline the current regulations and rules for financing and movement of capital in and out of Iran; providing the perfect guide to working in and with Iran.

With changes to the political landscape and the possible easing of sanctions this conference provides the ideal opportunity to discuss how the re-emergence of this major iron and steel player could affect you and your business.

Topics to be discussed:

Iron Ore – What new projects are planned? How will they affect the supply/demand balance? What investment opportunities are there? How feasible is iron ore export?

Technology – How is pelletizing, DRI and EAF technology progressing? How can they improve cost and environmental efficiency? How can technology reduce water consumption and improve water availability?

DRI case study – Best practices and production statistics from a leading global DRI producer

Primary (BF-BOF) and secondary (DRI-EAF) steelmaking – A comparison in terms of capex, opex, sustainability and finished products

Infrastructure and logistics – What investments are required? To what extent can existing infrastructure be adapted for future global trade?

Steel master plan – What investments are required for the 2025 master plan to come to fruition? How will the steel industry achieve the correct balance between long and flat production?

Sanctions – How will changes to the sanctions affect the iron ore and steel industries? How can international companies work with Iranians under current sanctions?

Investment and financing – What investment opportunities are there for global investors in the Iranian iron and steel industries? What facilities are there for moving capital in and out of Iran?
