China quickens pace to issue ferrous, non-ferrous scrap import licenses by late June

The Chinese government has started inspections ahead of issuing ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap import licenses for the second half of 2019 to avoid a potential month-long disruption of all scrap imports, the country’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) said on Wednesday May 29.

European 226 market plummets on distressed selling, weak demand

The market for aluminium 226 ingot fell to its lowest level since November 2009 on Friday May 24 after rumors of distressed selling in Italy exacerbated already weak demand from the European automotive sector.
